Analysis and application of TAL effectors (Lahaye)

Lahaye_teaserTranscription-activator like effector (TALE) proteins - biological function and application in biotechnology

Plant pathogenic bacteria of the genus Xanthomonas inject transcription-activator like effector (TALe) proteins into plant cells that either promote disease or trigger plant innate immunity. One focus of our group is to clarify the molecular basis of how TALes activate the plant immune system. A second focus is the generation and exploitation of the TALe DNA binding domain that can be modified to target any desired nucleotide sequence.
